My Background

I’ve spent much of my career working with small businesses where a lot has to get done and there aren’t enough people to hand it off to.

Sometimes the books are behind. Sometimes the reports can’t be trusted. Sometimes nobody is quite sure who is supposed to handle something, and it keeps landing back on the owner’s desk.

That’s the kind of work I know well.

My background includes controller-level accounting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, office administration, operations, business systems, technology, customer service, and direct support for owners and managers.

I’ve also worked independently in business, accounting, and computer/data-systems consulting. Much of that work came through referrals. People called me when they needed someone who could understand a complicated situation, get to the bottom of it, and see the work through.

How I Work​

I start by finding out what’s actually going on.

What’s working? What isn’t? What’s behind? Where are things getting stuck? What information is missing? What keeps coming back to the owner because nobody else has taken responsibility for it?

Then I help deal with it.

I don’t come in with a canned program. I learn the business, figure out what needs attention, and focus on the work that will make the biggest difference.

I like clear priorities, practical systems, and straightforward communication. I’m comfortable working independently, and I work well with owners, managers, employees, and outside professionals.

My goal is simple: understand what needs attention, do the work well, and leave things in better shape than I found them.

Who I Work Best With

I work best with small businesses that need experienced, dependable help without adding a lot of unnecessary complexity.

That may mean ongoing part-time support. It may mean help with one problem, a cleanup project, a system that isn’t working, or work that’s been sitting too long.

It may also mean stepping in where accounting, administration, operations, systems, and communication all overlap. In small businesses, they usually do.
